
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks (born July 9th, 1956) is an American actor and film maker. He is well-known for his comedy and dramatic roles , and is considered to be to be an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the father of Janet Marylyn, a hospital employee, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother, initially referred to "Fraga", was born into a Portuguese family. His father, however, was predominantly English. Tom was raised in an "fractured family". He did not have any acting experience during his college. This was what helped him get started in his career. He tried out for auditions in downtown Cleveland for a production in the community theater. The director invited him to Cleveland and that's when his acting career started.
